The site is in Brixton, where a 1960s building currently occupies half the site. The design is driven by a Net Zero Carbon ambition. A key decision is to retain the existing structure, offering an immediate embodied carbon advantage over new construction. The proposal includes a roof extension and two new buildings. Both use a highly efficient mix of steel columns, timber beams, and CLT floors—minimising carbon cost and enabling carbon sequestration within the floor structure.
